Most medical paperwork was designed for straightforward cases. Atypical presentations, rare conditions, and complex multi-system situations don't fit those boxes — and that mismatch falls on the patient to manage.

The Atypical Advocate is a set of tools being built to close that gap. Not to give medical advice. Not to replace your care team. But to handle the structural, logistical, and bureaucratic layers that shouldn't require a law degree and three good days in a row to navigate.

It started from a simple observation: when you're dealing with something hard to diagnose, something that moves in flares, something that doesn't have a clean ICD code — the paperwork doesn't get easier. It gets harder. Because every form assumes you already know what you have, how long it will last, and exactly how it will affect your work.

This is for the people who are still figuring that out.

How we build

This is a v0 prototype. It's meant to be useful right now, and to get better from here.

You don't have to be the case manager today.

This wizard handles the part of your employer's FMLA paperwork that you have to fill out — in plain language, in about ten minutes.

What we're going to do

  • Ask you a few things only you can answer (name, job, schedule, the kind of leave you need).
  • Use what you tell us to fill in Section I — Employee of your form.
  • Build a clean handoff packet for your doctor with everything they need for Section II.

What we're not doing

  • Asking you to read 38 pages of HR policies.
  • Asking your doctor to figure out the form on the fly.
  • Storing anything. This is a prototype on your own machine.
